My Family Tree

Dear Paul,
Thank you for your email and the pdf files showing the family history back to Thomas Bough, born 1761.
Despite meaning to research the family tree, I have not made as much progress as I intended and certainly not as much as you and your dad achieved. Well done to you both.

I am able to provide some detail on my family that is not in your tree and this is as follows:

James Arthur Bough was married 11/8/1945 died 30 May 2007

Marian Bough (nee Earnshaw) was born 10/8/1922, married 11/8/1945 and died 11/11/2020

Graham Arthur Bough was born 17 February 1950, married 30/12/1978 - During my working life, I qualified as a chartered accountant, worked my way up the profession in several firms in London and became a partner in a firm of chartered accountants in Maidstone, Kent, until 2002 when I retired and went to work with charity organisations as a financial manager. In one role I travelled to many countries in Africa, to Mongolia, Afghanistan and the aboriginal territories in Australia. I finally retired from paid work in 2012 and have been involved assisting charities with financial matters until very recently.

Jennifer Christine Bough (nee Smith) was born 6/3/1951, married 30/12/1978 - Jenny gained 2 law degrees and qualified as a barrister. She worked in the academic side of the law industry, ending up as lecturer in Law with Wye College, University of London, followed by the same role with the Business School at Kent University. She retired in December 2010. She has been studying fabric design and manipulation with the City and Guilds organisation and is always working on some craft project or other. She also visits prisons to teach the inmates embroidery and quilting skills with an organisation named Fine Cell Work.

Georgina Marian Bough was born 6/2/1984 and is single. She is devoted to her job as a paediatric surgeon currently towards the end of her registrar training and, at the current time, is working at the Southampton Hospitals group. She relaxes by being a rock and indoor wall climber and is a member of various climbing and outdoor groups.

Sarah Christine Bough was born 6/3/1986 and died 15/10/2010 of an aggressive brain tumour that spread down her spine. At the time of being diagnosed with the tumour, Sarah was studying for a PhD in brain stem cell research at Cambridge University.

I hope that this gives you some background to us and some more dates for your research.

When the impact of the pandemic is less, Jenny and I are thinking of travelling up to the Lake District and stopping off in various places on the way. One of our intended stopping points is Birmingham to try to make contact with the family. We hope to be in touch at some point in the not too distant future and to meet up.
